Movable-abutment type; valves, distributing and cut-off. - In a rotary engine with two diametrically opposite rotary abutments 7 in a plane at right-angles to the rotor 2, the abutments are provided on both sides with channels 5 and recesses 17 acting in conjunction with inlet and exhaust pipes 8. Each abutment is gapped to pass the vane 3, and the gap has a convex base to retain the vane in place. The rim of the rotor 2 is concave to seat the abutments, which are geared to the rotor and rotate at the same speed. Two or more engines of differing volume may be arranged in series.
