Abstract
1313842 Rotary positive - displacement engines A A JONES 5 May 1970 [7 Feb 1969] 6835/69 Heading F1F An I. C. engine has a unit A serving as a compressor for a unit B wherein combustion and expansion take place, each unit having a rotor 21 secured to a common shaft 23 and co-operating with spring-loaded pivoted gates 10, 11 adjacent induction ports 8 or exhaust ports 7 in a watercooled stator 1 between plates 3. Spark plugs are located at 9 and seals at 17, 24. Each rotor has two parts sealed at 25 and urged axially apart by springs (not shown). Transfer means between the two units are not shown. In a second embodiment, Fig. 5 (not shown), each rotor cooperates with a single gate. In third and fourth embodiments, Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown), the gates are lodged in the rotors, these embodiments differing from each other only in respect of the profiles of the inner peripheries of the stators.
