Abstract
257,084. Bashiloff, I. July, 31, 1925. Drawings to Specification. Treating ores to remove undesired constituents.-Polymetallic ores containing lime are first ground or calcined, and then treated with an ammonium salt such as the chloride; the resulting calcium salt is treated with the ammonia liberated and with carbon dioxide, which may be that liberated in the reaction with the ammonium salt or that obtained in calcining the ore, to recover the ammonium salt and precipitate calcium carbonate. Ammonia and carbon dioxide not taken up by the calcium chloride solution may be passed into cold water and the ammonium carbonate solution passed back to the calcium chloride solution. Copper present may pass into solution in the form of an ammonium compound.
