Abstract
287,702. Wagner, J. March 8, 1927. Ferric hydroxide is obtained by passing a strong current of air containing up to 10 per cent of crude dust-free carbonic acid through a tank containing iron or steel shavings, turnings &c. and filled with water to which has been added up to 3 per cent of sodium chloride and up to 1¢ per cent of chlorides or mixtures thereof such as ferrous or manganese chlorides, or according to the Provisional Specification, calcium or ammonium chlorides, which act as accelerators. The aqueous solution is circulated continuously through the tank, a, filter or receiver in which the product is removed, and back to the tank fresh iron and solution being added when required to make the process continuous.
