Abstract

Oil gas; materials for making gas.-Oil is atomized with hot air and gasified by partial internal combustion at a temperature between 600‹ and 1000‹ C. in the presence of a contact substance or catalyst such as solid or molten iron, platinum, alumina, &c. The air is supplied through a pipe 11, Fig. 1, and sprays oil from a nozzle 12, and the mixture is ignited by a spark plug 31 in the presence of the catalyst 15; steam from a coil 18 may be mixed with air. The reaction chamber may be worked under reduced pressure by means of an exhauster, or bv engine suction. With animal and vegetable oils, chlorides of magnesium, zinc or aluminium, or bromides may be admixed. Oxygen may be used instead of air, and coal in a colloidal state may be added to the oil. Specifications 20980/89, 21369/05, 29029/09, and 183,828 are referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a modification in which oil and air are supplied through pipes 10, 11. Fig 1 (Cancelled), to a combustion chamber 9 and the products therefrom atomize oil supplied through a pipe 12 to a chamber 14 containing the contact material 15; additional air may be admitted through the pipe 20 and apertures 14<1> together with steam generated in a coil 18<1>. The gas escapes through a conduit 17 surrounding the air pipe. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
