Abstract
240,440. Copley, I. C., (Assignee of Murdock, W. J., Lungren, E. E., and Evans, O. B.). Sept. 23, 1924, [Convention date]. Right to Patent relinquished. Producers. - In the manufacture of water gas and producer gas, a central column or pier is situated within the combustion chamber to confine the fuel within a space of annular crosssection, all parts of the fuel lying within 24 inches of the confining surfaces, in order to avoid the formation inactive masses within the incandescent zone. The pier A is supported by the grate 3 and is preferably formed with an interior chamber 13 to receive the open end 15 of the blast pipe. A steam inlet is provided at the top of the shaft for down-running. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 12400/14, 111,964, and 137,168.
