Abstract

Controlling different functions by same lever.- In motor cycles driven by a friction pulley acting on one of the tyres, the engine a is turned about a pivot x by means of a handle d pivoted at e, and adapted also to start and stop the engine. The handle is connected to the engine by means of a lost-motion connection f<1> so that the engine is stopped just before disengagement of the pulley and is started just after engagement, damage to the tyre being thus prevented. The engine is stopped by connecting the handle, d to a. flap valve in the induction pipe or to a compression valve, or by cutting off the spark by means of a switch h.
