Abstract

Conveying rotary motion. - A mechanism for imparting and transmitting rotary motion comprises two geared shafts, one of which is driven by a pawl e or equivalent device through a linkage b, c, d, j, f intermittently operated by rotary cam members a on the other shaft. A chain h connects a sprocket wheel l on the shaft n with a smaller wheel on the shaft m carrying the cam members a. The pawl e may engage the chain h or the sprocket wheel. The pawl e may be replaced by a pair of hinged plates which engage the chain h frictionally when a connecting rod is under tension.
