Abstract

254,813. Erdmann, K. April 15, 1925. Metal slabs; slabs.-A slab for walls, floors, ceilings and roofs consists of a frame of wood or iron, having a filling constituted by a loosely arranged fibrous material, such as wood wool or peat wool, hardened and cemented together by means of magnesite cement without pressure being applied. The frames may be of triangular wood battens 4a, Fig. 2, adjacent frames being connected by bolts 9, or of pentagonal battens 4b, Fig. 5, in which case adjacent frames are connected by cramps 10. The inner faces of the battens are roughened to engage with the filling. The frame members may also be of iron rails of angle form 4c, Figs. 6 and 8, or of semi-circular section 4d, Fig. 9. Cramps 13 or bolts 18 may secure adjacent flanges and the spaces between such members may be filled with concrete 20. For ceilings, the frames may be of C-shape as in Fig. 10. A layer 6 of plaster is applied to the slabs before erection. Roof slabs. Fig. 11, have angular shaped frames 3a, and the upper surface of the filling is provided with a layer of waterproof material such as asphalt or asbestos cement. A fillet is formed around the borders of the filling. The slabs may be reinforced.
