Abstract

187,751. Hall, J. M. Aug. 15, 1921. Facing-slabs; compound slabs; roofing-slabs.- In a slab building, the walls are formed of slabs a provided with eye-bolts d and reinforcing wires and connected together by clamps x in edge grooves which are finally grouted up. At the first floor level, shallow slabs g are provided with pockets h to carry the floor joists, and at the eaves are dwarf slabs i similarly provided with pockets for the roof principals and with a gutter l. The slabs are provided before erection with a covering of veneer keyed to the concrete by metal studs expanded in counterbores and having split heads; or the covering may consist of slates, tiles, fabric such as linoleum, or stucco with gravel or spar. The floors are formed of slabs without eye-bolts but with grouting grooves, and are dowelled together, and the upper face is covered during manufacture with veneer or tiles. The ceilings are formed of plaster and canvas slabs. The roof slabs are flanged on the inside and bolted together without purlins, and the outside is moulded and coloured to imitate slates, or tiles; grouting grooves are formed on the edges and also on the jointing faces of the ridge blocks.
