Abstract

Roofing, sheet-metal; rcinforced-concrete roofs; walls. -In buildings having roof ribs of the three-hinged arch type, each half rib a, formed of timber, metal, or reinforced concrete, is pin-jointed to a foundation or base rib d which may extend completely across the width of the building in one length or in sections with joints f, or may be formed as separate base ribs d for each half rib a. The base ribs have upstanding portions to receive the ribs a, such portions being rigid or pin-jointed as at o and strutted. The ribs a are erected by being turned on their pins c from the dotted positions and are then connected at the ridge. Grooves h, Fig. 4, are formed in the sides of the ribs, and the roof coverings i of flexible material such as corrugated sheet metal, are drawn up the grooves and secured together at the ridge. Alternatively, mesh or other metallic reinforcement may be drawn up in a similar manner and be finished with concrete. The side and end wall covering m may be similar to the roofing or may consist cf bricks, slabs, &c. engaging grooves in the ribs.
