Rolling-machines.-Meal for cattle food is fed through a hopper h<2>, Fig. 1, into the crescentshaped space between an eccentrically arranged inner roller F and an outer rotating ring A and is compressed by the roller F into a series of grooves a<2> in the internal face of the ring, indenting teeth f<1> being provided on the roller F and entering the grooves a<2>. The crescent-shaped space is closed in an axial direction by a cover plate H and by extensions b<4> of a bearing ring B in which the ring A is mounted. The ring B is rotated by a gear wheel D fixed to a shaft E driven by bevel gearing and carrying the roller F, the wheel D having teeth d<1> meshing with internal teeth b<4> on the ring. The pitch circles of the teeth b<4>, d<1> correspond with the internal and external diameters of the ring A and roller F respectively. The bearing ring B has a roller 'bearing b' in a frame C, and its weight is supported by a pair of bearing plates b<3>, c<1>. The compressed material. is disengaged from the grooves a2 by a series of knives K, Fig. 3, which enter the grooves and lead the material to guides k<1> discharging into a hopper k-. The grooves are tapered to allow the material to be readily detached. The moulding grooves may be on the surface of the roller and the indenting teeth formed on the interior surface of the outer ring. Specification 237,944 is referred to.
