Abstract
252,388. Orkla Grube-Aktiebolag. May 22, 1925, [Convention date]. Zinc oxide and oxychloride; cadmium chloride. -A zinc chloride solution is precipitated by less than the equivalent quantity of lime and the oxychloride is then treated with not more than the equivalent quantity of lime to obtain zinc oxide. The oxychloride precipitate, which is preferably formed at 30-40‹ C., is treated with the necessary quantity of lime at about 70‹ C., so as to obtain the oxide, which however still contains some chlorine. The precipitate, without freeing it from calcium chloride, is dried and heated at 100‹-1200‹ C., so as to effect sintering, whereby any sulphur and chlorine are removed. If cadmium is present, it will be expelled as chloride, and may be collected. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) includes the treatment of solutions of zinc salts other than the chloride. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
