Rollers and roller heads. - Subsidiarv rollers 9<1>, g<2>, d, d', are mounted between the drawing rollers of machines for spinning sliver from a carding-engine as shown, and their surfaces are slightly spaced from each other so that the slivers may be drawn without being positively clamped on the subsidiary rollers. The lower rollers may be driven in any suitable manner, as by a belt f<1> from an adjacent ordinary lower roller b<1>, and are mounted in a stand h secured to the stand p by a screw i and provided with engaging lugs k to prevent lateral displacement. The top rollers are mounted in the cap bar n which rests on a projection m on the stand h. The subsidiary rollers may be slightly reduced in diameter at their working surface, the reduction being not more than a fraction of a millimetre, and the working surface may be grooved circumferentially and the ends grooved longitudinally.
