Lap-forming apparatus. - In a Derby doubler or sliver lap machine in which a dividing-roller is arranged below the delivery table, thin flanges on the roller projecting through open slots at the end of the table, the dividing-roller D comprises discs d separated by washers d<1> the width of the sliver, and is arranged so that the slivers do not come in contact with the washers. A roller F accommodated in slots e in the side members E of the table A rests on the slivers before they pass between the discs d. The slotted end of the table A may be formed as a separate part and bolted to the main portion.
