Peat, preparing.-To make raw peat suitable for pressing by treatment under heat with a colloid-binding substance, sea water is employed as the treating agent. In an example one part of peat containing 90 per cent of water is mixed with one part of sea water containing 2¢ to 3 per cent of salts, and the mixture is heated to about 60‹ C. for 10 minutes. The water content may be reduced to 60 or even 45 per cent by pressing.
