Abstract

248,342. Siemens - Schuckertwerke Ges. Feb. 28, 1925, [Convention date]. Vacuum tubes. - A valve comprises an incandescent cathode 4 producing a bandshaped discharge, two anodes 2, 3, an auxiliary electric or magnetic field 6, and a control electrode 1, the arrangement being such that, independently of the potential between the cathode and anodes, the discharge passes to the anode 3 under the influence of the field 6 when the potential on the control electrode 1 is below a given value, and is deflected to the anode 2 when the potential on the control electrode exceeds that value. The field 6 is preferably of constant strength. A relay winding 5 is in circuit with the anode 2, and resistances are connected between the anodes; The anode 2 is arranged laterally of the tube, and is of curved shape, so that the discharge passes to it at the same potential on the electrode 1, independently of the potential between the cathode and the anode. The plane of the control electrode coincides with that of the discharge. The anode 2 may be adjustable, for instance, by means of a magnetic field controlling the position of a piece of iron attached to its anode.
