Abstract

Vacuum tubes. - A spacecharge grid is connected in series with the cathode of a valve, having also a control grid so that an ordinary 4-pin cap may he employed. A resistance d may be interposed between the filament e, which is connected to the negative terminal pin h, and the space-charge grid c, which is connected to the positive pin g usually employed for filament current. The resistance d may be omitted if the space-charge grid c itself has a resistance comparable with that of the filament. Preferably the positive end of the space-charge grid is opposite the positive end of the filament. According to the Provisional Specification, the space-charge grid may be helical so as to produce a magnetic field.
