Fixed-abutment type; balancing moving parts. -A vacuum or pressure pump of the type having a piston with vanes sliding outwardly by centrifugal force is provided with an apertured liner for the stator, moving with the same angular velocity as the piston, for taking the thrust of the vanes. The means for rotating the liner comprise a ring of circular apertures in a plate secured to the liner co-operating with rollers on a plate carried by the piston. The piston 1 has the usual vanes 4 sliding in recesses 5. The liner 2 is apertured to allow free passage of the motive fluid to and from the working chambers. A plate 9 is secured to the shaft 8 of the piston and carries rollers 10. A plate 6 secured to the liner has as many circular recesses 7 as there are rollers, each recess having a radius equal to the sum of the eccentricity of the axes of the casing and piston and the radius of the rollers. The diameter of the circle passing through the centres of the recesses 7 is the same as that of the circle passing through the centres of the rollers, so that the rollers are always in contact with some part of the circumferences of the corresponding circular recesses, thereby constraining the liner to rotate smoothly at the same rate . of angular velocity as the piston.
