Frame constructions; springs, arrangement of; guiding vertical play.-Relates to motor-cycle side-cars in which the body rests on springs carried by an axle-bar, and a frame member attached to the forward part of the cycle is spring supported on the axle-bar. The frame member 8 is passed, in a line parallel with the body springs, through a slotted block 10 on the outer end of the axle-bar 6, and a stay bar 13 connected to the cycle frame is attached to the frame member rearwardly of the slotted block. The side-car body is supported on springs 9 on the member 8 at its forward end and on springs 7 carried by the axle-bar 6 which is connected to the cycle frame by a flexible or ball-and-socket joint. The bar 8, which inclines rearwardly and outwardly away from its connection to the front of the cycle frame and is then bent parallel to the springs 7, is supported on the axle-bar by a semi-elliptic spring 12 secured to the block 10 which also carries the stub-axle 11 of the sidecar wheel. The bar 8 may carry a flanged block sliding in the slotted block 10. The stay 13 is. bent to pass beneath the axle-bar 6 as shown. The slotted block and the arrangement of the stay 13 provide for safety in case of breakage of parts, particularly the breakage of the wheel spring 12 or bar 8.
