Abstract
223,513. Vernal, D., and Buck, C. F. May 19, 1924. Side - cars, attaching.-The inner side of a side-car frame C is pivoted at its front and rear ends D to the lower portion of the motorcycle frame A and a third connection is effected by an angularly-disposed stay L which is pivoted at its top end to the upper part of the machine and at its lower end is connected to a cantilever spring G fixed at its butt end to the side-car frame. A U-bolt P serves to secure this end of the spring to an anchor-plate H welded to transverse members E, F of the side-car frame, and an adjustable bridge-piece J clamped to the members E, F by U-bolts K is fitted for varying the operative length of the spring.
