233,809. Rudge-Whitworth, Ltd., and Pugh, J. V. Feb. 23, 1924. Side-cars, attaching. - Relates to a side-car for motor and other cycles and provided with an axle having a resilient portion. The axle is firmly fixed to the frame of the cycle and while having sufficient resistance to maintain its normal position is sufficiently flexible to permit relative vertical movement of the side-car wheel. The axle comprises two or more spring leaves b<1>, b<2> secured to upwardly cranked end members b<3>, b' of which b<4> is formed with an eye b<8> having a spherical seating which is secured against a corresponding seating e<2> on the cycle frame by a bolt e<3> projecting centrally through the seating e<2>. An eyebolt at the inner end of the axle is secured in the forked end f<1> of a telescopic stay f connected to the cycle frame. The front end of the side-car frame is connected to the cycle frame by a telescopic stay g, the cycle end of which carries a pair of clip plates h<1>, h<2> gripping the down tube and a horizontal tube of the cycle, the plates h', h<2> being formed with spherical seatings h<4> h<5> engaging corresponding seatings on the stay g and on a washer h<6> carried by the clamping bolt h<3>.
