Abstract
221,979. Stevens, T. J. Oct. 27, 1923. Draught springs; springs, arrangement of and mounting bodies on.-Relates to handles for perambulators, push-chairs, &c. and of the kind mounted to slide on the ends of the underframe against the action of coiled springs. The opposed or engaging ends of the handle and underframe are provided with cup members enclosing the springs and adapted to slide one over the other. As shown, the upturned ends of the tubular underframe 1 at one end of the perambulator are each fitted with an upstanding pin 4 on which a handle member 3 is adapted to slide. The pin 4 carries a coiled spring 10 and cups 11, 12 which abut respectively against a cross-bar 6 mounted on the pin and against the end of the handle member 3. Relative movement of the parts is limited by the engagement of a pin 13 on the handle member with a slot 14 in the pin 4. The cross bar 6 also serves as an anchorage for body suspension springs 7, 8. The ends of the frame 2 at the other end of the body are connected by a U- shaped transverse member and suspension springs are mounted in a manner similar to the springs 7, 8. The pins 4 may be mounted in the handle to slide in the frame members, and the body may be suspended in any other manner.
