Be it known that I, CHARLES A. LINDBERG, a citizen of theUnited States, residing. at city of Sturgis, county of St. Joseph, State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Childrens Carriages, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates toimprovements in childrens" carriages.
The mainobjects of this invention are:
First, to provide an improved childrens carriage in which the body may be reversed relative to the handles.
Second, to provide an improved reversible childs carriage in which the body is very securely supported without the use of pivot belts or the like.
Third, to provide an improved childs carriage having these advantages in which the carriage is held in its adjusted position by a yieldingv latch or detent which is not likely to be accidentally disengaged or released.
Further objects, andobjects relating to structural details, will definitely appear from the detailed description to follow.
I- accomplish the objects of myinvention by the devices and means described in the following specification. The invention is clearly defined and pointed out in the claims.
A structure which is a preferred embodiment of my invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this application, in which:

In the drawing similar reference characters refer to similar parts throughout the several views, and the sectional views are taken looking in the direction of the little 55 arrows at the ends of the section lines.
Referring to the drawing, 1 represents the running gear, only portions of which are illustrated.
I provide a supporting frame carried by the springs 2, the supporting frame consisting of the longitudinal or side bars 3 connected by cross bars 4. The ends 5 of the side bars project beyond the cross bars 4.
and are curved for convenience in attaching to the springs 2. The cross bars 4 have offsets 6 therein disposed in an opposed relation centrally between the side barsS.
An annular track or way is mounted between the side'and cross bars supports 8 being secured on the under side of the side bars to engage the way, the way being secured to'the offsets of the cross bars 4 by the rivets 9. The way 7' is arranged so that the lower edges of theoffsets project below the wayas shown in Figs. V and VII, the purpose of. which will hereafter appear.
I provide a support for the carriage body 10, shown conventionally in Fig. II, comprising spaced transverse members 11 having upwardly jnojectingv arms 12 at the ends thereof to which the body 11) is secured. These cross members 11 are connected by the bars 13. Thetransverse members 11 have downward ofl'sets 14E therein disposed within the way, the shoulder or end portions having recesses 15 formed therein by striking out portions 16'tron1one edge. These recesses 15 receive the-way so that the body support is rotatably retained upon the way.
The bearing points of the body support are substantially spaced so that a verysecure foundation is provided. One of the transverse members is provided with a latch or detent 17 which is pivoted at 18 on one of 10.5
the offsets and provided with a recess 19 adapted to coact with the offsets of the cross members 4. This latch or detent has a spring 20 yieldingly holding it in engaging position. An arm 21 on the latch overlies the cross member, thereby coat-ling with the pivot in supporting the detent. This detent is adapted to be automatically disengaged on considerable pressure being applied to swing the body, but is sufficient to prevent accidental swinging of the body.
My improved reversible carriage is very strong and durable and at the same time 7 iscomparatively economical to manufacture.
I have illustrated only such parts of a carriage as seem necessary for proper disclosure of my improvements, as the structural details thereof, other than the reversible support features, form no part of my present invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is: I
1. In a carriage, the combination of a supporting frame, comprising side members and spaced cross bars provided with opposed centrally disposed inwardly projecting offsets, an annular way mounted between-said side members and cross members with the lower edges of the offsets of the cross members projecting below the lower edge of the way, a body support, comprising transverse members and connecting members therefor, said transverse members having central downward offsets therein disposed within said way, the shoulder portions of said offsets having recesses therein receiving said way, a latch pivoted on one of said transverse body support members to coact with the projecting loweredges of the offsets of said supporting frame cross members, and a spring for said latch.
2. In a carriage, the combination of a supporting frame, comprising side members and spaced cross bars, an annular way mounted between said side. members and cross members, a body support, comprising transverse members and connecting members therefor, said transverse members having central downward offsets'therein disposed within said way, the shoulder portions of said offsets having recesses therein receiving said way.
3. In a carriage, the combination of a supporting frame, comprising side members and spaced cross bars provided with opposed centrally disposed inwardly projecting offsets, an annular way mounted between said side members and cross members with the lower edges of the offsets of the cross members projecting below the lower edge of the way, a body support, comprising transverse members and connecting members therefor, said transverse members having central downward offsets therein disposed within said way in bearing engagement therewith, a latch pivoted on one of said transverse body support members to coact with the projecting lower edges of the offsets of said supporting frame cross members, and a spring for said latch.
i. In a carriage, the combination of a supporting frame, comprising side members and spaced cross bars, an annular way mounted between said side members and cross members, a body support, comprising transverse members and connecting members therefor, said transverse members having central downward offsets therein disposed within said; way in bearing engagement therewith.
5. In a carriage, the combinationof a supporting frame, comprising side members and spaced cross bars provided with opposed centrally disposed inwardly projecting onsets, an annular way mounted on said frame with the lower edges of the offsets of the cross members projecting below the lower edge of the way, a body support, comprising transverse members and connecting members therefor, said transverse members having offsets therein engaging said way, a latch pivoted on one of said transverse body support members to coact with the projecting lower edges ofthe'offsets of saidsupporting frame cross members, and a spring for said latch.
6. In a carriage, the combination of a supporting frame, an annular way mounted on said frame, a body, and a support on which said body is'mounted comprising a pair of spaced members having downward offsets therein engaging within said way whereby the body is rotatably supported on the way. 7. In a carriage, the combination of a supporting frame, an annular way mounted v V on said frame, a body support comprising spaced members having offsets therein disposed within said way, the shoulder portions of said offsets having recesses therein receiving said way, and a latch on said body support frame. i
