Endless band conveyers, articles carried by; driving mechanism, application of. -Friction gearing particularly for driving photographic drying-drums of the kind described in Specification 165,529 comprises a driving wheel c with a V or grooved edge engaging internally, externally, or in crown wheel manner with a groove, or V edge on a drum wheel b. The wheel c is carried in a block d sliding under the pressure .of an adjustable spring d' in a frame e and may be rotated by a crank handle c<2> or by a chain or toothed wheel, pulley, &c. The wheel c and the engaging surface of the wheel b may be of fibre or metal.
