Tension arrangements for use with belt gearin which the pulleys are interchangeable, the device being movable as a unit to position the tension pulley always adjacent to the smaller pulley. The pulley f is carried on an arm g formed on a disc h which rotates loosely on the sleeve of a drum i. Springs q bear upon pins p carried m the drum and engage also with forks r secured in the disc h so as to maintain them normally in register with the pins. The drum i may be maintained, by a pin m engaging the framing n adjacent to one pulley d and by a nut s, in such a position as to press the pulley f against the belt e, or may be removed and placed similarly with relation to the pulley c, the springs allowing the pressure to be applied in either direction.
