Monogrammic signs. - The field is made up of hexagonal elements the opposite faces of which are of contrasted colours &c., the element in one form being rotatable and in another adapted to be secured detachably or permanently to a background. The units A, Fig. 1, are rotatably mounted on wires B, a spacing washer o being arranged between the units. The units may be moved by hand or by the mechanism of Fig. 3. This comprises a belt D passing over pulleys E, E on which are a number of perforated laths F carrying interchangeable pegs G each of which is adapted to contact with a lever H and move the latter, the wire I and toothed sector and pinion J to turn the element A. The parts are returned automatically when the peg G passes a certain point. The elements are selected according to the set-up of the pegs on the band. In another mounting for the unit, the latter is provided with two pins engaging holes in a bracket member which is also provided with grooves into which the edges of the elements spring and are retained when.in the two extreme positions. In the second form the units are fitted with press studs &c. to engage holes in the foundation plate. Certain units may form the background or this may be formed bv the foundation.
