Abstract

336,300. Spencer, H. R. July 13, 1929. Anti-dazzLe screens comprise a single movable member of sheet material characterized by a series of narrow elongated openings or transparent portions arranged at right angles to the direction of motion and having parallel or substantially parallel sides, the member being adapted to be moved in its own plane across the rays of light so that the openings or portions pass the eye at a speed exceding eight per second. As shown in Fig. 3, the member is a disc of dull black celluloid or the like divided uniformly into a number of sectors c by slots e, and is mounted on a ball-bearing d so as to be freely rotatable. In a modification, Fig. 1, the disc, of metal, vulcanite, &c. is composed of closely arranged radial members a intersected by a series of straight or curved members b. In each case the disc may be mounted on the windscreen of a vehicle by means of a suction pad f of indiarubber, the stem of which is drawn through the bore of the bearing d under considerable tension and then released so as to leave an enlargement f<1> at the free end. In another form a series of connected parallel bars is adapted to be moved in a direction at right-angles to their length. Specification 295,103 is referred to.
