Abstract

246,108. Etablissements Terrot. Jan. 19, 1925, [Convention date]. Exhaust-silencers.-A silencer is provided with a rotatable plug valve 2 by which the inlet 7 can be put in communication with the silencing chamber 9 or in direct communication with the outlet 8. The valve has a through passage 20 adapted to connect the inlet and outlet, and pockets 21, 22 adapted to connect the inlet and outlet respectively to the silencing chamber 9, and may have blind pockets 23 which serve only to lighten the valve. The chamber 9 is provided with baffles 11 and with an opening 13 leading to the passage 20 when the valve is in the normal position shown. The valve is retained in place by a removable cover 5 and actuated by a pedal 16 provided with a spring catch for retaining the valve in the open or closed position.
