Abstract

245,341. Budd Wheel Co., (Assignees of Nelson, E. A.). April 10, 1925, [Convention date]. Double and multiple wheels arranged side by side. - Two independent disc wheels 18 are secured to the same hub flange 12 in spaced relation to each other and to the body of the hub by the same series of bolts 15. In the construction described, the bolts are anchored to the hub flange 12 and are supported at the outer ends in a detachable flange 22 with a sleeve 23 bearing on the hub. The discs are formed around the central opening with an annular upset portion in which are formed the countersunk bolt holes 21. The spacing means consists of a series of sleeves 19 on the bolts. The sleeves are split and are tapered at their ends so that they are clamped on the bolts when the securing nuts 25 are tightened up. The flange 22 is prevented from binding on the hub by lubricant introduced between them by a wick 26.
