Abstract

243,623. Budd Wheel Co., (Assignees of Nelson, E. A.). Jan. 29, 1925, [Convention date]. Detaching from, and attaching to, permanent hubs.-The inter-hub seating surfaces between a detachable wheel hub and the permanent hub are spaced axially and the securing means for the detachable hub are arranged between the seatings. The invention is described as applied to a construction which enables a wire-spoked wheel to replace a disc wheel of the type shown in Fig. 3, and comprises two radial abutments 19, 20 on the permanent hub flange 15, and the provision on the outwardly flared flange 22 of the wirespoked wheel of two corresponding seatings between which are disposed bolt holes 24 provided with tapering, or spherical seatings for similarly shaped nuts. The brake rim 18 is secured on an annular seating on the inside of the flange 15 and is offset to accommodate the inner end of the detachable hub. Two sets of spokes 27, 28 connect the rim to the inner and outer ends of the hub and lie on each side of the seating surfaces.
