Abstract
245,172. Schaap, A. K. July 1, 1924. Annealing.-In the heattreatment of grey iron castings by heating them by combustion gases to a temperature above the Ac1 point and cooling, the castings are protected from the combustion gases by being contained in a wrought-iron pot. The castings 5 are contained in a wrought-iron pot 2 which is placed in a furnace 1<a> heated by gas jets 4. The open end of the pot 2 may be closed by means of a fire-bricks 3<a>. The castings may be cooled in the furnace or may be removed therefrom for cooling.
