Propelling by rotary cylinders utilizing Magnus effect.-In rotors operating with a Magnus effect a front, or both front and rear, current guiding surface or surfaces extending along the length of the rotor is or are provided, the surfaces directing the inflow current tangentially and the outflow radially. The guides are adjustable or fixed. the current g flowing past the rotor a, which is turning in the direction h, is directed by the inflow guide b and outflow guide c resulting in a pressure in the direction k within the zone i For reversing, the rotor is reversed and the guides swung through 180‹. For controlling the effort the guides are adjustable separately.
