Copying mechanism.-In a templet mechanism for cutting metal or other material by means of flame-cutters or grinding tools, the cutter d is mounted in an adjustable support secured to a carrier c which is mounted on ball castors g moving over a templet a having a shaped edge consisting of a raised metal strip f. The templet is engaged by a knurled vertical roller e coacting with springs z and two pairs of ball-bearing pressure. rollers v engaging the inner side of the strip. The roller e is driven from an electric motor s through variable reduction gearing u and is in axial alignment with the cutter d. The templet may he of wood faced with sheet metal a<1>. To increase the tractive force between the guide-roller and the templet for performing milling or grinding operations, the guide roller may be formed as a pin-wheel or toothed wheel engaging recesses or teeth in the templet. In further modifications the speed variations in the guide-roller travel may be effected by means of a variablespeed electric motor or by using rollers of different diameters, and in some cases the templet may be provided on its upper side with one or more beads to prevent the carrier from moving into undesired positions.
