Abstract
455,161. Sawing segmental pieces. NEALE, E. W., Cypress House, Manor Lane, Quinton, and HANDLEY, A. H., 55, Central Avenue, Northfield, both in Birmingham. July 12, 1935, No. 19926. [Class 145 (ii)] A device for use with a sawing-machine, more particularly a band-saw, for cutting wood or other pieces s of segmental shape comprises guide rollers b, d acting on the curved side of the work piece a and a feed roller or rollers h acting on the straight side of the work piece. The guide rollers d are carried by a member e carried by a rod f sliding in a support c and are pressed against the work by a spring g; the support c is adjustably fixed on the bed of the machine and carries the roller b. The feed rollers h are carried by a bracket i pivoted on a member j carried by a rod k sliding in an adjustably fixed support l ; the member is supported by a lazy-tong linkage m and urged against the work by a spring n. A driving wheel o on the spindle p engages wheels q on the roller axes. The work piece a is cut to the shape shown by means of a template.
