983,964. Moulding building panels; sawing. G. J. VAN ELTEN. June 7, 1962 [July 14, 1961,] No. 22076/62. Headings B5A and B5L. Binder impregnated wood-wool building panels are formed by laying and consolidating a sheet of the material upon a series of moving moulds, and cutting the sheets into individual panels along the line of contact of the moulds, means being supplied to centre the cutting device about said line of contact and to couple the device to the moulds. The cutting device comprises a motor-driven saw 12 carried by a member 29 which is reciprocated along transverse rails 8 by a rotary screw-threaded spindle 28. Rails 8 are carried by a frame 9 which is movable along longitudinal rails 7. Frame 9 carries pairs of arms 13a, 13b and 13c, 13d, which are coupled by a device 17 and urged into contact with side rims 4, of the moulds, by a spring 18. Each arm carries a roller, e.g. 14a, 14b, 14c, 14d respectively which are urged into notches 6a-6d in the rims 4 of the moulds. The notches are arranged symmetrically about line 3 so that as the moulds advance the rollers engage the notches and the frame 9 is drawn along with the moulds the carriage driving motor 25 being actuated so that the saw makes a transverse cut which is accurately centred above the line of contact of the moulds. After cutting, the saw is retracted, the rollers disengaged with the rims and the frame 9 moved back to its original position. If required, two saws may be provided, symmetrically disposed about the line of contact of the moulds. The sheet may be held while cutting by bars 20. Specification 902,995 is referred to.
