Abstract

243,484. Mote, S. C. Oct. 3, 1924. Covers. - An expanding case or portfolio for holding music and other sheets consists of two covers a, b, one of which is provided with a pocket d to receive a flexible back c attached to the other cover, a tape or its equivalent being connected to the back c or its cover a for fastening the portfolio. Both covers may be provided with pockets and the flexible back made separate therefrom, so that its ends are received in both pockets. In one form, Fig. 1, the fastening-tape f passes through a slit p in the edge of the cover b and. is tied to a tape e on the cover a. In a second form, Fig. 5, tapes q are secured to the back c and pass through slots r on the inside of cover b and are secured by a pivoted gripping-member s. The fastening-tape may be in two parts, Fig. 3, one part k being connected to the back c or cover a and passed through slots p in the cover b, and the other part, n being secured to the inside of the cover b and having a buckle through which the part k is passed. The depth of the back of the portfolio may be adjusted independently of the fastening tapes by straps or their equivalent.
