Gaseous-fuel furnaces.-A steam generator is fired by gas from a producer g, Fig. 1, combined therewith and arranged below the fire-box b with which it communicates through passages n and a central passage k controlled by a door l. A fan r supplies air through valve-controlled passages s, o to the producer and to a helical or tor. tuous passage m surrounding the producer and leading through radial passages m<1> into the passages n. There may be more than one passage such as k and in an alternative arrangement the passages n are omitted and the air from the passages m<1> is led directly into the passage k. In a further modification as applied to a locomotive boiler the air from the fan r is first passed through air-heating pipes located in the smokebox of the boiler.
