Abstract

Closed solid - fuel stoves ; feeding; smoke preventing; outlets to chimneys. - Improvements in the furnace and stove described in Specification 5261/11, in which the fuel in a chamber a is distilled by heat from the combustion chamber c and the products of combustion are returned to the latter by a steam-jet or the like, consist in contracting and expanding the combustion gases any numberof times in their passage from and to the combustion chamber, and also 'in causing contraction and expansion of the gases in the waste gas flue. In the furnace or stove shown, a steam jet k draws the gases through an opening g in a partition d and returns them through a passage i to the combustion chamber c ; contraction taking place at the openings g, i and expansion in the chamber e. At each circulation a portion of the gases escapes to the flue f, which has a constriction r and expansion chamber s. The steam is generated in a coil l and passes to a steam-chest n, whence it is supplied by a pipek, in which superheating occurs, to the jet.
