Cylinders, construction of, and cooling.- The cooling water is admitted in a tangential direction into an annular cooling-water space surrounding the inner wall of a cylinder head. The annular water space d<2> may be formed by an upturned edge d of a liner D, as described in Specification 177,260, water being admitted through tangentially arranged passages d<4> in bosses d<3>, these passages aligning with passages b<2> leading from the cylinder jacket b. The liner D is retained by a ring member C bolted to the casing B of the jacket.
