Plates, dishes, and the like, washing.- Power apparatus for driving household machines, such as washup machines, comprises a standard 1 with base 2 which supports an electric motor 5 on a headpiece 3 carrying variable-speed mechanism, and on which is secured a bracket 28 shown carrying a vessel 27. The motor shaft may have fast and loose pulleys 6, 7 for driving external apparatus, and drives the gearing shaft 9 through a centrifugal-friction clutch 8. The shaft 9 may rotate at three speeds a further shaft which may drive a wash-up machine.
