Abstract

239,717. Nord, J. Oct. 24, 1024. Tourniquets.-A tourniquet comprises as shown in Fig. 9 a casing 1 having a slot at the top to receive a wedge 7 and a strap 5 which also passes through a slot S in the casing and is connected by a hook 9 to a strap 4. The strap 4 passes through a slot T in the casing and is connected at C to the wedge 7. The tourniquet is used by passing the strap 5 round the limb &c. and pulling on the end E. Additional tension can be obtained bv means of a screw 11 the end 12 of which can be pressed against the strap 4. In a modification an aperture is provided in the casing 1 opposite the screw 11 so that the end 12 can be pushed completely through the casing to produce greater tension on the straps 4, 5. In a further modification shown in Fig. 8 the casing has only three sides, the screw 11 being shown in the Figure in its extreme position.
