Abstract

239,612. Winning, R. K. June 14, 1924. Locks, revolving-barrel.-In a revolving-barrel lock of the kind wherein the barrel is locked by transverse sliders set for release of the barrel by insertion of a suitably-notched key, the key is provided with an abutment adapted to come into direct contact with one of the sliders to determine accurately the amount of axial insertion. In the form shown the key abuts on the outermost slider and the abutment forms the end of the serrated part of the key. The Figure shows the key 36 inserted into the barrel 20 until its insertion is stopped by the shoulder 40 engaging the face 27 of the end slider 28. The serrations 29, 31, 33 of the key are thereby enabled to position the sliders so that their outer edges are flush with the periphery of the barrel which can then be turned to operate the locking bolt by turning the key.
