Closure members, lift.-A. lift valve member 1 for a stop valve is adapted to telescope over the valve seat 5 and is provided with a valve-like sealing surface at 3 adapted to engage a corresponding seating formed in the closed end of the valve seat. Leakage discharge passages 7 are formed in the valve member communicating with the space 6 between the closed ends of the valve member and seat.
