201,809. Grainger, J. E., Dixon, W. G., and Shadbolt, S. M. Oct. 7, 1922. Closure members, compound. - In a valve of the type comprising a lift closure member combined with a tubular closure member having a V-shaped or equivalent port, the apex 5, Fig. 1 of the V-shaped port 4 is disposed below the level of the face 8 of the lift member so that the port opens after the lift member has left its seating 6. An upstanding flange 10 is disposed between the seating 6 and the tubular member 3. These features serve to prevent " wire cutting of the faces of the lift valve. The apex 5, Fig. 2, of the port 4 may be bevelled, as shown at 9, to increase the deflecting action on the fluid at small openings of the valve.
