239,342. Fletcher, G. H., Rusby, H., and Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Co., Ltd. Aug. 14, 1924. Universal couplings.-A coupling for connecting substantially coaxial rotary elements 3, 2 allowing relative lateral and axial motion comprises a pair of cranks 8 upon a transverse shaft 6 carried by the member 3 and connected by ball-ended links 11 to pins 13 in the member 2. One link 11 is in tension and the other in compression so that the cranks 8 tend to turn the shaft 6 in opposite directions on its axis. The cranks 8 may be resiliently connected through the shaft 6. The invention is described as applied to driving the track wheels of an electric locomotive.
