Abstract
299,079. Alley, S. E., Leeds Forge Co., Ltd., and Hutt, A. C. July 19, 1927. Transmission gear of invariable ratio; driving bogie wheels.-A steam engine 18 is connected with the further axle 29 of a bogie B by a central shaft 28 having universal joints 30, 31, of which the latter is near the bogie pin. A bevel wheel 41, Fig. 3, on the shaft gears with a wheel 40 on a roller-mounted lay shaft 38. A spur wheel 39 on the shaft 38 gears with a wheel 37 on the enlarged centre 36 of the axle 29. The engine is suspended on rods 21 having bushes 25 of resilient material.
