Walls.-The walls and partitions of a timber framed' building consist of studs of rectangular cross-section fixed diagonally with respect to the edges of slabs and engaging vee-grooves therein, and also, for cavity walls, triangular studs with square fillets on one or more faces and similarly engaging grooves in the slabs. In cavity walls, the outer studs 9 are triangular in section with the longer side parallel with the external face of the wall and with square fillets 11 fixed on the other two sides. The corner posts 10 are set with the longer side inwards. In the inner wall, the studs 7 are square or rectangular and set diagonally. Single walls and partitions are constructed similarly to the inner wall. The slabs are made of concrete or plaster and may be tied together by ties 12.
