Walls; double walls.-In a slab wall having the piers cast in situ, the slabs and piers are keyed together by recesses a<3>, Fig. 2, or projections g, Fig. 4, formed on the flat faces of the slabs either parallel to the vertical edges or inclined thereto. The piers are cast between boards e and strips d of wood or metal, which may engage grooves in the slabs. The wall thickness may comprise two or more rows of slabs with corresponding ribs c<1> on the piers. The recesses a<3> may have one edge square and the other undercut. Separate keys h, Fig. 8, may be secured in the recesses of several slabs placed vertically on edge, the keys partly projecting into the concrete piers. Specification 169,729, [Class 87 (ii), Moulding plastic &c. substances], is referred to.
