Abstract
665,555. Moulding building blocks. GIBB, A. Sept. 30, 1949 [Aug. 30, 1948], No. 22812/48. Class 87(ii) A composite building block consisting of granite or other stone and concrete is made by arranging a facing slab j of granite on a table a which forms the bottom of the mould. then pouring concrete into the mould, the side walls of which have wire mesh g, to facilitate the removal of the block from the mould. The wire mesh and the inner surfaces of the mould may be greased. The mould may be subdivided by partitions b, c. The lower parts b of the partitions and the lower parts d of the side walls may be made of granite. The corresponding upper parts c, e are made of wood and are tapered towards their lower ends to cause the wire mesh to grip the parts b, d. The side walls may be grooved to receive the partitions or the side walls may comprise several parts corresponding to the distances between the partitions, in which case the ends of the partitions and side walls may be dovetailed to interlock. The lower edges of the parts b, d are rabbeted to accommodate the edges of the facing slab.
